American Girl For girls age 8 and up, features advice, crafts, contests, puzzles, games, giggles and more! (6 issues/yr)

BMX Plus Reports on the stars, styles and how-to's of this ever-changing, fast-paced sport; includes bike tests, new product evaluations, personality profiles and previews. (monthly)

Boys' Life An award winning magazine for boys that includes articles on fiction, history, outdoors, non-fiction, science, sports etc. (monthly)

Dirt Bike Directed to off-road motorcyclists of all ages, with equal emphasis on recreational and competitive cycling, plus do-it-yourself maintenance and riding tips . (monthly)  

Disney Adventures This is a general interest magazine for children ages 7 to 14. It contains features on music, movies, trends, science, travel, games, heroes, explorers and more. There are new comics whose themes match the animated Disney Afternoon series, as well as traditional Disney characters. (no longer published but we have back issues)

Dog Fancy, put out by the dogchannel.com.  Each full-color issue has training tips, different breed descriptions, fun activities to do with dogs. (monthly)

Kids Discover Thematic issues, puzzles and recommended reading lists for children ages seven to 13; pyramids, volcanoes, oceans, television, bubbles, earthquakes, food, Columbus, trains, weather, space, deserts, The Maya, glass, rain forests, The Roman Empire. (monthly) &

National Geographic Kids Presents articles of interest to children ages 8-14, dealing with crafts, nature, world cultures, science and general interest. Includes pull-out supersize pages and contests. (10 issues/yr) &

Nickelodeon This is an interactive and informative humor magazine for children ages 6-14. Its editorial and design encourage imagination and creativity.   (12/19/09: no longer published but we have back issues)

Ranger Rick Ranger Rick is for children ages 7 and up. Each issue is packed with amazing facts, stunning photos and outdoor adventures that help kids sharpen reading skills and develop a deeper appreciation for nature. A Parent's Choice Gold Award recipient in 1999. (monthly) þ &

Sports Illustrated for Kids For children ages 8 and up, devoted to sports. Feature articles on sports figures of note, tips from the pros, news items of recent note, games, puzzles, cartoons, fiction, and advice from athletes. (monthly)

Young Rider    Young Rider is an equestrian magazine for young riders which teaches them how to ride and look after their horses properly. It offers riding instruction, horse care information and horse interest features. Each issue also contains a breed profile, a quiz, a puzzle page, a pen pal section and several pages for reader pictures and contributions. (6 issues/yr)

Your Big Backyard For children aged 3 to 7 years. Filled with activities, simple stories and wild animals that the little ones love. It draws preschoolers closer to nature and gets them ready to read. Youngsters will enjoy the seasonal crafts, simple cooking recipes, fun games, and more. (monthly) þ

Zoobooks Presents articles on animals and nature. Includes photography, illustrations, diagrams, and descriptions. Also includes interactive activity pages. (we no longer subscribe but have back issues) þ &
