CITING HARD COPY SOURCES

Book by one author:
1. Author, last name first.
2. Title of book.
3. Place of publication:
4. Publisher, publication date.

Example:
Stone, Lynn. Lions. Vero Beach, FL: Rourke Enterprises, 1989.
Book with two authors:
1. Authors, in order they are listed on the title page.
2. Title of book.
3. Place of publication:
4. Publisher, publication date.

Example:
Green, Carl R, and William R. Sanford. African Lion. Mankato, MN: Crestwood House, 1987.
Book with no author:
1. Title of book.
2. City of publication:
3. Publisher, publication date.

Example:
Looking Back at Sending Messages. Needham, MA: Schoolhouse Press, Inc., 1988.

Encyclopedia and other familiar reference books:
1. Author of article (if available), last name first.
2. "Article name."
3. Title of reference book.
4. Volume number (if multi-volume set). Publication date, pages used.


Example:
Schaller, George B. "Lion." World Book. Vol. 10. 2005, 45-60.

Example (if no author):
"Lions." Amazing Animals of the World. 1995, 79-82.

Article in a periodical (magazines, newspapers):
1. Author (if available), last name first.
2. "Title of article."
3. Periodical title. date: page.

Example:
Churchman, Deborah. "Pride and Joy." Ranger Rick. Apr. 2005: 32-37.

Example (if no author is available):
"Lions." Zoobooks. Mar. 1992: 9-12.

Encyclopedia from an online subscription service:
1. Author (if available), last name first.
2. "Title of article."
3. Name of encyclopedia
4. Name of publisher. date of publication.(if available)
5. Date of your visit.
6. <URL>

Example if article is taken from the library or school computers:

Periodical article from an online subscription service:
1. Author. (if available)
